Vocabulary Taboo

This is such a neat idea....Here is a sample of a Science vocabulary taboo game. There are blank taboo cards that you can fill out, cut apart, and put in a bowl. I thought this would be a great way to review vocabulary, literary terms, or even events in history (that are tested on TAKS).

Glogster Guru

I am becoming a glogster guru...this is a glog I created for one of my teachers. I just thought it was too cute not to share. She is using this as part of her PDAS evaluation lesson. She is also using an animoto clip, as well as a YouTube video. I am super excited!

Fun Filled Weekend

Well, my husband and I loaded up the boys and went on our first overnight trip ever as a family. We went to Nacogdoches, TX to Stephen F. Austin's homecoming game. For those that may not know, Mark is a graduate of SFA and misses it dearly. The town is beautiful and the people are so friendly.

We stayed in the motel that time forgot. The comforter had a cigarette burn and there were bugs in the bathtub. That didn't matter. The boys had a blast, jumping back and forth on the queen size beds.

At the game, "W" (my three year old) was stung when he tried to catch a bumblebee. We ended up sitting on the grassy sidelines which was fine for the boys. They spent the 2nd half of the game rolling down the hill.

After the game, we went out to eat, and then went to our favorite restaurant to get margaritas. We ordered the boys a huge fried ice cream. It was so funny to see them get excited about it. They spent the next hour jumping around from all the sugar.

We played at the park, picked up pecans and pine cones, and just spent time together relaxing and enjoying our family. It was so nice! I cannot wait for more trips like this.....

Blabberize 2

Ok, I hit "publish" before I had actually typed my text. I like Blabberize! You can take any image and make it talk, sing songs, etc. The possibilities are endless with this application!

Nervous Nelly

I am such a nervous nelly. I just presented "Tech Academy" to my administrators and froze up during the presentation. I just kind of looked like a tech deer in headlights, begging for $2300 in funding. I do not think that went well at all. I tried my best to answer their questions but ended up studdering, stammering, and just drawing a blank. We shall see what happens....

It has been so rainy and dreary here. We have passes to the fair and rodeo but haven't went because of the rain. I am hoping to take the kids later this week.

Yesterday, I presented ITools with my team mates. I didn't think that went well either. It was silent while I was talking, and no one was chiming in. I get so nervous when that happens and end up rambling...I think I might just be off my "A" game.

My husband and I have both started taking vitamins. We purchased these vitapaks from GNC. So far, no change yet. I am hoping for more energy. I need it to keep up with everything.

A neat site I cam across is Newspaper Clipping Generator. I am thinking of using this as TAKS practice. Post an article from Weird News and don't show the article's title. Have the students come up with a title and summarize the article. What a great way to pratice summarization!

Now on Twitter!

By the way, I am now on Twitter....

Yay technology!

Like Pistachio Pudding on the Window

Lately life has been very trying. I compare it to scraping pudding off a window...J loves to take his food and smear it on the windows of our apartment. I will forget and often have to come back later and scrape it off...

I have not been feeling well lately. Very tired, run down, overall exhausted. I have also been having some other "female" issues. Wednesday I went to a new doctor. She was very nice and professional, examined me top to bottom (literally). She found "something" while she was examining me and has ordered more tests. To my bad luck, I cannot go back in for these tests until the 23rd....I am such a worrier. I have been trying not to think of it but ultimately, my mind wanders to the intruder in my uterus (as I now call it).

My husband has also decided that he doesn't want anymore children. I am struggling greatly with this and can't seem to accept this as final truth. Yes, I know the logistics of having more children seem overwhelming, but you can make any situation work when you want it badly enough. I am now having to redefine and examine my marriage.

At work, we have had two of our three Technology Showcases. This has been very exciting and has taken my mind off the stresses of my life. We have featured the latest technologies available as well as neat hardware teachers can write grants for....It is nice to see the excitement teachers get at the latest and greatest toys for education.

So, as I promised, another tool I use is Animoto. It is far better than PhotoStory and much easier...

Keep scraping that pudding....

All Aboard!

Hello! My name is Lisa and I am a tech-a-holic! I came across this interesting blog and I had to share it:

The Bamboo Project

I hope to share ideas about education, technology, and life with you. I am an educator, an instructional technology specialist, a mother, a wife, a foodie, and basically any other noun you can imagine. My blogs are going to reflect the many dimensions of my life.

Firstly, I have two children. We will call them "W" and "J". "W" is 3 years old and "J" is turning 2 in December. I am proud to say that this is day #2 being "bottle-free" at our house. "Big boys drink a sippy cup" is the new mantra around the apartment...wise words to live by, if you ask me. "J" has not asked for his beloved ba-ba since Tuesday...here's hoping for success. Now, if we could only getting him to sleep in his own bed the whole night through....

As many will learn, this is my seventh year as an educator and my first year as an instructional technology specialist. It is truly a different ball of wax. I do not have lesson plans or direction at this time. I feel sometimes that I am floundering around, trying to find my own way. Yet, it is also very much sink or swim...I can remember my first year teaching. They gave me a teacher's edition and keys to my room. That was it! I was on my own. It is very much the case now. I have help but no set directive or plan of action. So, I am constantly wondering what I am supposed to be working on, doubting if I am doing things correctly, and constantly second-guessing myself. I hope to soon find my footing in this new career.

So, as is my goal, I will begin this post by saying "Welcome Aboard" and share an interesting and helpful website I found. I really like the Timer, Hamburger Bun, Venn Diagram, and Flashcard Generator.
